Epic Computer Documentation Class & Online Modules

  • All new students and instructors are required to attend a 3 hour student Epic Computer Documentation class and complete the online modules.  Instructors should attend instructor documentation class. 
  • All returning students and instructors who completed Epic Computer Documentation class for fall 2012 are required to complete the “returning student/instructor” online modules only.  

      NOTICE: Epic is upgrading to the 2012 version as of 2/9/2012 and the MAR is changing.  There are 2 different online modules of the MAR (2010 and 2012).  If you will not be on the unit until after 2/9/2012 you only need to watch the 2012 version.  If you are on the unit prior to 2/9/2012 you will need to watch both versions. 

  • Exceptions:
    • outpatient/ambulatory care clinical areas – student will be notified of required epic computer documentation class
    • student is a Froedtert nurse extern (let your instructor know)
    • instructor is a Froedtert/CMH staff member

Additional Information

Student Hotline: call 414-805-8000 for computer related questions (problems accessing the Learning Center or Verification system, or completing the computer online modules.  Do not call the Froedtert Help Desk.  

Network/Epic Access and Passwords: students/instructors who attend the required documentation training will receive login information at the end of class.  Returning students/instructors call the Froedtert Help Desk 414-805-2101 to obtain login information.  If you are a Froedtert/CMH staff member your student/instructor access will be separate from your employee access. 

IMPORTANT: IT has access to student/instructor log on information via an electronic spreadsheet.  Do not complete a CAR form.

Classroom session:

  • Computer documentation class must be attended prior to starting clinical rotation.
  • Students who attend class and have not completed the online modules will be asked to leave and register for another session.
  • An online assessment will be completed at the end of class which requires an 80 percent to pass.
  • Computer documentation class dates/times and locations are located on the Froedtert website.  Classes are subject to change.
  • Classes may be cancelled and instructor/student(s) will be notified if there are less than 4 enrolled in a class. 

APN/PA Computer Online Modules Process

  • All new students are required to complete the APN/PA online computer modules and orientation online modules via the Froedtert Learning Extension.
  • All returning students are not required to complete the APN/PA online computer modules again, but are required to complete the orientation online modules via the Froedtert Learning Extension.
  • Exceptions: Froedtert Hospital Staff members do not need to complete the orientation modules.

NOTE: safety & infection control information is now an online module that must be completed each semester by all students (exception: Froedtert Hospital and CMH staff members) who have a clinical at Froedtert or CMH Hospital through the Froedtert Learning Center each semester in addition to reviewing the handbook. 

 Ancillary/Other Students

All students and instructors (who are onsite) are required to complete orientation online modules via the Froedtert Learning Extension.

How to Take the Online Modules  

  • If you have not already signed in please use the login box to right side of the screen. Your username will be your email address you used to sign up with for training. You should have received an email with your temporary password. If you do know your password you can reset it here .
  • Click My enrolled courses you will find this located in the Navigation Menu on the left side.
  • Find your online course and click it.
  • Click Enter (Make sure you have your pop-up blocker turned off)
  • Complete the course content
  • Click exit course
  • Click click here to return to the course page link

Register for Classroom Computer Class

  • Select Classroom Training
  • If you are not already enrolled in the training Click Enroll Me
  • Under topics select the classroom session
  • Click Book now on the class you wish to schedule
  • Click Continue
  • Click Continue

Note: You may enroll in only one (1) Classroom session at a time. If you need to change dates, cancel your first selection before enrolling in a different class.  

Additional Information

  • A test will be given to the students at the end of class to assess their knowledge of the online modules. Students must pass the test with a score of 85% or better to continue on with the classroom session.
  • DO NOT wait until the last minute to complete these modules!
  • Contact your instructor with any questions regarding this training.
  • Note: If you have not completed the modules, or if you do not pass the assessment, you may be asked to leave the class.
  • Classes may be cancelled if there are less than 4 enrolled in the class.
  • Bring your Learner ID and password to your classroom session. You will need this to access the online test at the beginning of class.
